Welcome to 88 Driving School. These Terms & Conditions explain the rules that apply when you use our website, book driving lessons or take one of our driving courses.
By booking a lesson or using our services, you agree to these terms. We recommend reading them before making a booking.
1. Driving Lessons
88 Driving School provides driving tuition to help learners develop the skills, awareness and confidence they need to drive safely and responsibly.
The content of a lesson will depend on the type of lesson or course you have booked and what you need to work on. Your instructor may adjust the lesson as you progress.
2. Booking Lessons
You can book lessons through our website, by telephone or through any other booking method we make available.
When booking, please make sure the information you give us is correct, including your name, contact details and any information that may be relevant to your lessons.
A booking is confirmed once we have accepted it.
3. Learner Requirements
Before taking a lesson, you must:
- Hold the appropriate valid driving licence or provisional licence.
- Meet the legal requirements for driving in the UK.
- Follow reasonable instructions given by your instructor.
- Be fit and well enough to drive safely.
- Tell your instructor about anything that could affect your ability to drive safely.
Your instructor can refuse or stop a lesson if they reasonably believe that you are not legally permitted or fit to drive.
4. Lesson Times
Please arrive on time for your lesson.
If you arrive late, your lesson may still finish at the originally booked time. This means you may receive less driving time than originally planned.
If your instructor is delayed because of circumstances outside their reasonable control, we will do our best to deal with the situation fairly and make suitable arrangements.
5. Cancelling or Rescheduling a Lesson
We understand that plans can change. If you need to cancel or move a lesson, please let us know as early as possible.
Depending on the booking or course you have purchased, a late cancellation or missed lesson may result in a charge.
If we need to cancel a lesson because of instructor availability, vehicle problems, weather, road conditions or another issue outside our reasonable control, we will try to arrange another suitable time.
Any cancellation charges or specific booking conditions will be explained to you when applicable.
6. Driving Test Bookings
You are responsible for making sure your driving test is booked correctly and that you meet the requirements for taking the test.
We can help you prepare for your practical driving test and give you guidance during your lessons. However, we cannot guarantee a particular test date, test result or that you will pass on your first attempt.
7. Intensive Driving Courses
Our intensive courses are subject to instructor availability and are arranged according to the learner’s circumstances.
The number and timing of lessons may depend on your previous driving experience, current ability, progress and the areas you need to work on.
Taking an intensive course does not guarantee that you will pass your driving test.
8. Training Vehicles
Driving lessons will normally take place in a suitable training vehicle provided or approved by 88 Driving School.
You must follow your instructor’s safety instructions and use the vehicle only as agreed during your lesson.
You must not use the training vehicle outside the agreed arrangements or allow another person to use it without permission.
9. Payments and Prices
The price of your lesson or course will be confirmed when you make your booking.
Our prices may change from time to time. The price that applies to your booking will be confirmed before the booking is accepted.
Where a course or package needs to be paid for in advance, we will provide the relevant payment and cancellation information before you make the purchase.
10. Refunds
Refunds are dealt with according to the terms that apply to the particular lesson, course or booking.
If part of a service has already been provided, the amount relating to that completed service may not be refundable.
If you believe you are entitled to a refund, please contact us and we will review the circumstances and the terms that apply to your booking.
Nothing in these terms affects any consumer rights you have under UK law.
11. Changes to Your Instructor
There may be occasions when we need to change your instructor because of illness, holidays, availability, vehicle issues or other practical reasons.
Where possible, we will let you know and try to arrange another suitable instructor or lesson time.
12. Learner Behaviour
We expect learners to treat their instructor and other road users with respect.
Threatening, abusive, discriminatory or seriously inappropriate behaviour will not be accepted. Where this happens, we may suspend or cancel lessons.
Any decision to end lessons will be made with regard to the circumstances and applicable legal requirements.
13. Safety During Lessons
Safety comes first during every driving lesson.
Your instructor may stop, shorten or rearrange a lesson if they believe continuing would create an unreasonable safety risk. This could be due to severe weather, road conditions, vehicle problems, learner behaviour or another situation affecting safe driving.
Your instructor’s decision on immediate driving safety should be followed.
14. Website Information
We make a reasonable effort to keep the information on our website accurate and current.
However, prices, availability, course arrangements, lesson details and instructor availability can change.
Information displayed on the website should not be taken as a guarantee that a particular lesson, instructor, date or course will always be available.
15. Third-Party Websites
Our website may occasionally contain links to websites or services operated by other organisations.
These websites are separate from 88 Driving School and have their own terms, privacy policies and practices.
We are not responsible for the content, availability, security or privacy practices of third-party websites. You should check their terms before using their services or providing them with your personal information.
16. Our Liability
We take reasonable care when providing driving lessons and other services. However, learning to drive involves individual progress, and we cannot promise that a learner will pass their test or achieve a particular result.
We are not responsible for delays, cancellations or losses caused by circumstances that are outside our reasonable control. This may include serious weather conditions, road closures, major traffic disruption, vehicle breakdowns or instructor illness.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or limits any liability or consumer right that cannot legally be excluded or limited under UK law.
17. Changes to These Terms & Conditions
We may update these Terms & Conditions when our services change, our booking arrangements change or legal requirements are updated.
When we make changes, the latest version will be published on this page along with the updated date.
The version in place at the time of your booking will normally apply to that booking, unless a change is required by law or otherwise agreed.
18. Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
If a dispute cannot be resolved directly between you and us, it will be dealt with by the appropriate courts, subject to any consumer rights you may have regarding where proceedings can be brought.
